Radon Mitigation System in Your Home

Radon mitigation is the process or system used to reduce radon concentrations in the breathing zones of your home. The goal of a radon mitigation system is to reduce the indoor radon levels to below the EPA action level.

Any home can have a radon issue. A quality radon mitigation system is often able to reduce the radon level. We can reduce your radon levels by adding a radon mitigation system to your basement drain tile installation.

Overcoming Interior Moisture

Radon mitigation systems help overcome interior moisture by air being sucked out of the sump pit or along the perimeter of the drain tile. This suction pulls more air from the perimeter drain tile under the slab, causing a reduction in sub-slab pressure.

Any moisture in the ground will rise through the pipe instead of migrating to the block wall cavities. Even more importantly, any radon in the soil will pass through the vent pipe instead of pushing with pressure to enter the house through the wall slab and below grade walls. For the cost of controlling one thing, we can overcome three: moisture, mold, and radon.

Radon Testing

Not sure of your home’s radon levels? Testing is the only way to find out your home’s radon levels. EPA and the Surgeon General recommend testing all homes below the third floor for radon.

If you decide to finish or renovate an unfinished area of the home in the future, a radon test should be done before starting the project and after the project is finished.
